Jimny Imports, UK Registered, Supplied by Castle Motors
Castle Motors supplies Jimny imports that are UK registered and ready to drive away. We source four-seat Sierra and Nomad models from Japan, complete the process and prepare them for British roads before they are advertised.
Why import at all
The UK stopped receiving passenger Jimnys in 2020 and the five-door Nomad has never been sold officially through the Suzuki UK dealer network. Both the three-door Sierra and five-door Nomad are available in Japan. Importing is simply how British buyers can obtain these factory four-seat models.
Why we source from Japan
Japanese-market cars give us the factory four-seat specification and high equipment levels our buyers want. We confirm the vehicle’s origin, build details, condition and specification before purchase so the car advertised is clearly described and traceable.
What the process involves
- Sourcing. Identifying the right specification car in an exporting market, and verifying its condition and history before it moves.
- Shipping. Sea freight, with marine insurance for the crossing.
- Duty and VAT. Paid on arrival, calculated on the vehicle’s value plus shipping.
- Approval. The vehicle must be shown to meet UK requirements before it can be registered.
- Registration. DVLA issues a V5C and a UK registration number.
From sourcing to UK registration, the process is typically around four months. Shipping, port handling, approval or DVLA timings can vary, which is why buying a vehicle already completed removes a substantial wait.
Prepared for UK roads
On arrival, each Jimny receives a pre-delivery inspection and full underbody protection using Waxoyl or an equivalent treatment. This is especially worthwhile before the vehicle meets salted UK winter roads.
The honest case for buying one already done
Every step above carries cost, delay and risk. Exchange rates move while a car is on the water. Approval can turn up unexpected work. A private importer carries all of that personally.
Buying a car we have already imported and registered means you see a fixed price, a UK V5C, and a vehicle you can drive away. The margin we make is the price of removing that risk from you — that is a fair trade, and we would rather say so plainly than pretend the process is trivial.
Every Jimny advertised by Castle Motors is physically in stock, UK registered and normally ready to drive away. If you consider a vehicle that has not yet reached the UK, make sure any deposit protection, expected timescale, refund terms and ownership position are set out clearly in writing.
What to check on any imported Jimny
- A UK V5C in the seller’s possession — not “applied for”
- Evidence of approval for the vehicle as configured
- Speedometer in mph and correctly calibrated
- Clear provenance for the car’s history in its origin market
- Written specification of any modifications fitted
Imported, UK-registered stock
