Four seats are the single most common requirement among Jimny buyers. Here are the factory-built options and the trade-offs between them.
Why supply is limited
Suzuki ended official UK sales of the passenger Jimny in 2020, while production continued for other markets. Anyone wanting a four-seat Jimny today is therefore choosing between an older UK car and a correctly prepared Japanese import.
Option one: a pre-2020 UK car
For: factory four-seater, UK supplied, straightforward history and insurance.
Against: every one is now at least six years old, supply shrinks each year, and prices have not fallen the way used-car prices normally do.
Option two: the three-door Sierra
For: a factory four-seater with the compact dimensions, short wheelbase and classic Jimny proportions; delivery-mileage examples are available.
Against: rear access requires folding a front seat, and luggage space is modest with all four seats in use.
Option three: the five-door Nomad
For: a factory four-seater with proper rear doors and a more useful boot.
Against: the most expensive route, and supply depends on import availability.
What to check
On any imported car, confirm that the seller has the UK V5C, that the speedometer reads correctly in mph and that the exact specification is recorded in writing. Tell your insurer that the car is an import and declare any modifications.
